For Joy
1991 Dark bay Hanoverian Stallion imported from Germany
Sourced by the Hanoverian Verband on behalf of Callaho, For Joy is a son of the incomparable show jumper, For Pleasure (Furioso II), double Olympic team gold medalist and twice European team champion. The lifetime earnings of this superstar exceed 1.8 million Euros. For Joy’s mother, Donau (Don Carlos), is the product of an excellent dam line which has produced a number of licensed stallions, State Premium mares and advanced level jumpers.
For Joy acquitted himself with flair at his 100-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. In a very strong class of 53 stallions, he outclassed the acclaimed stallions Goldfever and Calido to be placed third overall. He then went on to the final of the German Bundeschampionate. He was subsequently acquired by Jessica Kürten who campaigned him successfully on the international show-jumping circuit in Europe. Although sparingly used for breeding in Germany, he has had a phenomenal hit rate; of the 47 registered offspring with the FN, 6 are competing at S-level
(A-grade). For several years now, For Joy has consistently retained his ranking in the top 25 jumper sires of the Hanoverian Verband.
In 2003 he was brought to South Africa by Callaho and effortlessly made the transition to dressage sport. Within 3 years For Joy was the highest ranked dressage horse in South Africa, confirming his wonderful temperament and high predisposition for top level competitive sport. In breeding here at Callaho, he has proven to be an extremely dependable producer of correct, talented horses with truly exceptional rideability and temperaments. Many of his progeny purchased from the Callaho Auction are now competing locally, while several have changed ownership for multiples of their original auction price. He remains a firm favourite on the farm, as a sire of wonderful sport horses, and a true gentleman.
